The long-awaited AI security standard ISO/IEC 27090:2026 has been published.

The new standard "describes various security threats and the exploitation of vulnerabilities that can happen when using AI systems. The objective is to identify recommended measures to improve the securituy of AI systems by identifying theats and the consequences of these threats. The identifiction of threats can help usesrs and developers of AI systems better understand security issues related to AI systems." [Source: ISO website]

Although I might quarrel with the standard's loose langage around key terms such as "threat", and although it does not cover all AI-related risks, it does nevertheless provide useful guidance, acting as a stake-in-the-ground, a foundation on which to build in this rapidly-evolving area of technology.

Read more about the standard on this website.

PS Re that AI-generated image, did you notice how the robot disregards the laws of physics when it locks the chain with an already-closed padlock? Guess that's another AI security risk ...
