The automated DNS changes linking ISO2700security.com to the new-look Wix website were completed sooner than expected at last night, when I had knocked-off for the day to watch the 6 o'clock news on NZ TV. Straight away I spotted page layout issues on my smartphone and laptop that were not present on my usual desktop PC in the office ... but I was able to make a few tweaks right there on the couch without having to go back to work, thanks to online access to the web based system.

Today, I am continuing to check and tweak the design for various platforms and browsers, gradually getting to grips with the differences. That means exploring and trying to figure out the way Wix uses guidelines, ruler, layers and precise positioning of page elements - plenty more for me to learn yet, as you'll see from various inconsistencies and loose ends on the site.

Another annoying little issue I've spotted is an inconsistency in how to define and add hyperlinks e.g. linking from the names of individual ISO27k standards such as "ISO/IEC 27001" in the text to the corresponding detailed pages on those standards. In some parts of the site, the editor offers me a wide choice of internal and external hyperlink targets such as specific pages or page sections, static URLs or dynamic pages generated from CMS items ... but elsewhere my choice is more limited, and I don't yet understand why. If I have to specify static URLs in some places, those links will break when the site structure or page names change. It gets messy.

I'm also checking and refining the information content as I work back and forth through the site, mostly small corrections or refinements.

All in all, it will inevitably take a wee while for the new site to settle down. By all means let me know if you spot problems - especially anything important, misleading or plain wrong - and I'll add them to my snag list.
